Thanks to Bryant Motors for donating the cash prize for the closest to the pins and the winners were Marcia Azan on #7 and Paul Curry on #10. The Putting Contest was won by David Baldwin. The Sedalia School District Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award has been established to recognize graduates of Smith-Cotton High School for outstanding achievements and contributions to society following graduation. These recipients reflect strong role models with strengths of character and citizenship to inspire and challenge today’s students.
The Sedalia School District Foundation seeks to identify individuals who have left a legacy and have kept education a priority in their community. The criteria for selection of this award are:
Candidates must have graduated from Smith-Cotton High School at least 10 years prior to nomination.
Candidates must have contributed to society, education and/or their respective communities in an exemplary manner.
Candidates must have achieved outstanding success in any of the following areas: the arts, business, community service, humanitarian efforts, education or a profession.
The Distinguished Alumni Award nomination packet is available to download and print.
2016 Distinguished Alumni Award nomination applications must be received in the SSDF office by May 12, 2016.
Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17, 2016
The following events will take place in celebration of Smith-Cotton High School’s football homecoming. Sedalia School District students, parents, alumni, and friends are welcome to participate in the following events.
Friday, September 16
10:30 a.m. – The Sedalia School District Foundation will present the Distinguished Alumni Award to Dr. Diane Cordry Golden. The Ceremony will be held in the Heckart Performing Arts Center at Smith-Cotton High School.
3 p.m. – Homecoming Parade under the direction of Smith-Cotton High School Student Council will make its way through downtown Sedalia.
5 p.m. – The Sedalia School District Foundation invites Smith-Cotton alumni and the Sedalia community to join us for our annual tailgate party in front of Smith-Cotton High School gymnasium. Hamburger or hot dog, chips, and drink meal. Donations are welcome.
7 p.m.—The Smith-Cotton Tigers take on the Nevada Tigers at the Jennie Jaynes Complex.
Saturday, September 17
7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Pancake and sausage breakfast and tours of the Smith-Cotton Junior High campus (the original high school.) Entertainment is provided by “Future Alumni” from Sedalia School District elementary and junior high schools. Advance pancake tickets are available by calling 660-829-2562. Tickets will also be available at the door.
9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Tours of the Smith-Cotton High School campus at 2010 Tiger Pride Blvd. conducted by Smith-Cotton students and administrators.
